Proposed Old Mutual Investiment Group Mixed Use Building- Design competition - Malawi

Our design studio participated in Old Mutual Investment Group’s Architecture Ideas Competition for the redevelopment of an existing plot in Blantyre, a key site at the town’s entry. Our proposal embraced the site’s strategic location, integrating urban, environmental, and economic factors to create a dynamic mixed-use development. Positioned along the highway for visibility, the design included retail, offices, and food courts while extending Mudi River’s green buffer for pedestrian-friendly spaces. The form responded to urban landmarks, maximizing natural light and ventilation. Sustainability was central, incorporating energy-efficient systems, renewable energy, and water conservation strategies to create a future-forward, environmentally responsible landmark.
