Alps Wellness Retreat Facility - Switch Architecture Competition - St. Moritz

The Switch Competition launched an architectural ideas contest for a “Wellness Retreat” in St. Moritz, Switzerland, offering a design opportunity in a prestigious Alpine setting. The proposed retreat, “The Eye of St. Moritz,” was planned along the lake’s shore, integrating with the natural landscape while providing panoramic views. Inspired by traditional “Alps palafitte” structures, the design minimized ground impact with a suspended form. The project featured a wellness center with saunas, hydrotherapy, and relaxation spaces, alongside a leisure zone with a swimming pool, bar, and restaurant. Sustainability was prioritized through locally sourced materials, energy-efficient systems, and a green roof, positioning St. Moritz as a leader in eco-conscious architecture.
